God Has A Plan

At the age of fifteen I spotted a young lady who had just turned thirteen at a youth banquet at Clifton's Cafeteria in Los Angeles. Without even meeting her, I told my brother who had attended the banquet with me, "That girl is going to be my wife." From that moment on I never became serious with any other girl. After church, the young people wanted to go out for cokes. I went but did not get real friendly with any of the girls.  I saw this girl again at youth camp, yet still had not met her. I just knew that the day would come when I do.

My family lived in Whittier California, but for quite some time I did not know where this girl lived. All I knew was her name. I later found out that she lived in Ontario California, about twenty-five miles away. I made it a point to go to the next youth rally, which happened to be at a church in her town. That night she approached me and said she was on the "Welcoming Committee" and would like to welcome me. I was to find out later that the church had no "welcoming committee". I was very shy, and don't remember saying much. During church I could not think of much, except that this girl of my dreams was right there in the same building with me. A few months later my father, simply out of nowhere, said, "We're moving to Ontario."

We moved within two miles from this girl. Needless to say, as soon as I could, I asked my father if I could use the family car and went to see her.  She wasn't home, but the next time, a few days later, I went again. We talked for over an hour. I found out that our two families crossed paths many times in our growing up in Arizona and California. My Aunts and Uncles knew her family from when we were very small children.

She had just turned fifteen and allowed to begin dating, and was taken a little "off guard" at my suggestion that she would someday be my wife. We began a courtship that would last for two and a half years. We broke up twice, and only for a week or two. When we did, I said, "It doesn't matter, were still going to be married." We were married in July of 1962. On July 27th 2002 we celebrated 40 years of marriage. God has blessed our marriage with one son, two daughters, six grandchildren, and a great grandchild on the way.

On our celebration day Rosalie and I were surrounded by family members who flew in from other states, as well as many friends from here in Southern California.

On that day I looked into the eyes of Rosalie Baublit, (Cook), and saw the same happiness we shared 40 years ago. As I stood there looking into her eyes, with the music in the background, I saw a smile on the beautiful face of the only girl I've ever loved, and the very first girl I ever kissed.

Be patient, "God has a plan"

Stan Cook

Be Patient...God Does Have A Plan.

Sometimes, we get so impatient. We think that our dreams are over. Like Stan and Rosalie having a fight and breaking up.  It would seem like the dream God had given Stan was over but it wasn’t! God was still at work bringing His plans together for their future happiness. That is the way it is. Suddenly things go wrong and we wonder if God has forgotten us. We question ourselves, Did we get it wrong? Yet all the time, God is working to fulfill His plan for our lives.

If you asked Stan Cook, he would say, “Be Patient...God has a plan."

So don’t worry. Don’t get all upset. Trust God! Remember, God loves you and He has a plan for your life. So be patient and let the Lord work His great will for your life.
