In Calvin Miller's Book.. "A Requiem for Love".. There is a delightful little
piece..
A beggar asked a millionaire,
"How many more dollars
would it take to
make you truly happy?
The millionaire,
reaching out his gnarled hands
into the beggar's cup, replied,
"Only one more!"
Money... Money... Money...
It is amazing.. no matter how much money we have.. it is
never enough. The more
we earn.. the larger our wants. The problem with money is that there is never enough to buy what we
truly need. Money can’t buy
peace.. joy.. love. All the
money in the world can’t help you when the doctor walks in and tells you there
is no hope. Millions of
dollars don’t mean a thing when your whole world is caving in on you.
There is only one true source of peace, joy and
love. If you want to have
peace in the storms of life, if you want joy that goes beyond what you have, if
you want to have the best of life, it comes through a right relationship with God. It comes not with what you put in your hands.. but
with what you put in your heart.
