When Pastor Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual politically correct prayer. What they heard instead was a stirring prayer, passionately calling our country to repentance. The prayer is reprinted below as an encouragement and challenge for each of us to pray for Revival in America!



Pray for America!!

Heavenly Father, we come before You today to ask Your forgiveness and seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, "Woe on those who call evil good," but that's exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values. We confess that:

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism; We have worshipped other gods and called it multi-culturalism; We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle; We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery; We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation; We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare; We have killed our unborn and called it choice; We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable; We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem; We have abused power and called it political savvy; We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition; We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression; We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, O God, and know our hearts today; try us and see if there be some wicked way in us; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent here by the people of our country, and who have been ordained by You, to govern. Grant them Your wisdom to rule and may their decisions direct us to the center of Your will. I ask it in the name of Your Son, the Living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Will you pray for America?

We must pray. We must ask Our God to intercede and begin to change the direction of our country. Revival never begins with those outside of God. It begins with God's people looking toward Heaven and beginning to pray, "God change our country."

2 Chronicles 7:14, states, "If my people who are called by My Name. (That is you and I, my fellow Christians) will humble (recognize that we need God) themselves and (What?) Pray (Intercede for our nation) and seek My face (This is not some mamby-pamby two minute - just before I go to bed prayer.. This is-- A seek Him until we know that we are in the presence of the Living God-- kind of prayer!), and turn from their wicked ways (That's right, Christian friend, you and I, as believers, must quit sinning and making excuses for it. We need to be a holy people.. If we are going to bear His Name.), then I will hear from Heaven, and will (What?) forgive their sin and heal their land."

Listen to me, that is what America needs.. Healing! Heal our land, O' Lord. Heal it from the sins of our fathers and mothers. Heal it of our indifference to the needs of small children and hurting people. Heal our land from the sin that permeates our national soul. Heal us of the moral decay that has stolen into the hearts of those who lead us. Heal us of the indifference to sin, immorality and its insidious effects on us, our children and our nation. Heal us of the coldness of heart that would allow us to violate your holiness and your desire for us to be a morally upright people. Heal us of the apathy that allows millions of unborn babies to be savagely murdered every year. Heal our hearts, O' Lord. Heal our land, O' Lord, heal our land.

Will you pray for America? In your daily prayers, call out to the Lord for America. Ask God to forgive us and send us a great national revival. Pray for our national leaders that they might truly be saved. Pray for the religious leaders that they might be anointed by God. Pray for your community and for your Church that they might be touched by God. Pray for your Pastor and Church leadership that they might be in the forefront of what the Lord is doing.
