I Wish I Would Have Told Him

I had just finished the funeral service for a grand old man of the church. Frank Carothers had been a believer since his youth.  He had been a youth worker, a Sunday School teacher, a deacon in the church, a friend and pray partner to many people. When he taught the Adult Sunday School class it was one of the biggest classes in the church. In his later years, he had been someone who would be there to counsel and pray for hurting people. The service was packed with people from the church and the community. You could see that this man was both loved and respected by almost everybody he had met.

One of the leaders in our church walked up to me. He had tears in his eyes. He spoke softly, “You know, Frank Carothers really had an impact on my life. I was just a new believer when I began to attend his class. I had all kinds of questions and no answers.  Brother Carothers taught me the Bible. He showed me how to pray. He was there to answer my questions, to pray with me, to show me how to be a real Christian. I am not sure what I would have done without his help, his prayers and his encouragement.

I was touched, I told him, “That’s wonderful. I wish you would have told me that before.. I would have shared that in the service.”

His voice dropped a bit, "You know what I wish? I wished.. I would have told him.”

He had never told him.

Share While You Can..

It is so easy to forget to tell people how important they are to us. We live busy lives and there are so many good people that touch our lives in a positive way. The sad truth is that they won’t always be around to thank. We don’t want to wait until it is too late to tell people.. Thank You.. for being a blessing in my life.

Let me encourage you. Look around, take notice of the good people who are making a difference in your life and then let them know they are loved and appreciated. If you can.. go to them, tell them.. If not, call them, write them, do whatever is necessary, but don’t miss the opportunity to say thank you for being someone who touch your heart and your life. Do it now.
