In the
children’s book.. “Winnie the Pooh” there is a delightful little scene where
Eeyore, Pooh’s friend falls inot the river.. and needs help. Eeyore is far to polite to scream for
help.. the scene goes like this:
Pooh:
"Did you fall into the river, Eeyore?"
Eeyore:
"Silly of me, wasn't it?"
Pooh: "Is
the river uncomfortable this morning?"
Eeyore:
"Well, yes, the dampness you know."
Pooh:
"You really ought to be more careful!"
Eeyore:
"Thanks for the advice."
Pooh:
"I think you're sinking."
Eeyore:
"Pooh, if it's not too much trouble, would you mind rescuing me?"
A
World Looking For Some To Rescue Them..
That’s the
way it is.. there are people all around us who are in danger of perishing. They really want help. They know they are in trouble but they
sometimes they just don’t know how to ask for help. They are looking to the church and they are saying.. “Save me.” They may not be using those words but that
is what they mean. Sometimes.. it comes
out all wrong. It comes out in pain,
anger, frustration but it comes from the same source. It comes from a life that is in trouble and doesn’t know what to
do.
It is up to
the church.. to Christians.. to reach out and do something. We need to offer hurting people a hand. How? Sometimes it is as simple as letting people know that we care. To offer them a listening ear, a soft
prayer, an arm around their shoulder.. taking the time to get to know
them.
This week..
make a difference.. reach out and help someone know that there is a better way
to live.
